SEAT UPHOLSTERY

As we discussed in a previous post, the seats will be upholstered in tan leather with black piping to match the exterior color.  We recently received the leather seat covers, matching interior panels and carpeting.  The next step is to upholster the seats.  An in-depth inspection of the seat springs and padding revealed the need for new cushion materials.  The original springs were in satisfactory condition.
The steel seat frames had some minor signs of rust so we treated them with POR15 rust inhibitor.

A new tack strip was attached to the seat back.

Next the new seat "foam" was applied to the seat back...

and folded over the back side.

Now Gus is fitting the leather seat back cover and the vinyl cover on the seat bottom frame.

A heat gun is required to relax the leather.

Now the seat cushions are fitted to the seat frames.  The seats are completed.

Stay tuned...
