INTRODUCTION

The Triumph TR3, produced by Standard-Triumph in England from 1955 to 1962,  is rarely seen today.  Of the 58, 236 TR3A's sold between 1957 and 1962, only about 9,500 exist in the world today.  

The TR3A boasted a power output of 100 bhp at 4800 rpm and a curb weight of 2090 lb resulting in a 0-60 mph time of 12.0 seconds.  The TR3 was the first production car to be fitted with disc brakes.  Among it's available options were seatbelts, overdrive, wire wheels, fiberglass hardtop, occasional rear seat, radio, heater and leather upholstery.  

Mike and Tess are the proud owners of a 1960 TR3A which is the subject of this blog.  It is equipped  with wire wheels, heater, seatbelts and electric overdrive making it very desirable.  This TR will be undergoing a thorough cosmetic restoration which will include a new black exterior finish, leather interior, chrome wire wheels and new chrome trim.  In addition, the instrumentation, hydraulic and electrical systems will be completely refurbished.  Special attention will be given to the engine compartment.  The engine and gearbox are in superb condition and will require only routine maintenance and refinishing.  Every nut and bolt under the bonnet will receive the attention it deserves. The result will be a striking example of the coveted Triumph TR3A hereinafter known as the "Sheffield Shuttle".
